Finland’s Parliament early last week approved sending an additional 50 crisis management troops to Afghanistan, News room Finland reported. The temporary increase would bring the number of Finnish soldiers participating in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in northern Afghanistan to a maximum of 195 at the beginning of next year. The decision was made with a majority of 127 votes to 27. The opposition’s Left Alliance, Christian Democrats and True Finns were opposed.
